OCEANIA Meeting and Seahorse Snorkel

Thanks to all that came out this weekend for the Seahorse snorkel and Membership Meeting. The meeting was quick, just a short update on who we are and a few things we have been doing.

Don't forget that if you join the National (NMEA) you also join the local chapter. Check out the national site at NMEAhttp://www.marine-ed.org/ and click the "Join" tab to learn more about benefits!

On our outing, those that were brave enough to ignore the weather reports and join us Saturday, soon headed for the water - and in reality, it really was nice, with clouds on the horizon and blue skies passing above.

Scott and crew getting ready to enter the water, and yes, the sun really did come out.

The whole crew lined up to do a careful survey of the sand flats.
These fish are very hard to find!

The count begins.

The first seahorse, hanging out quietly in some alga.

A couple of shots of a second, much smaller specimen.
All in all, everyone seemed to have a great time.

Catch up with OCEANIA next at the Hawai'i State Science Teachers Annual Conference. It will be held this year at Iolani School on September 13th. See: http://hasta.wildapricot.org/FallConference
